Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using Typingo (the "Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.
These Terms apply to all users of the Extension, including those who access the service without creating an account.
2. Description of Service
Typingo is a Chrome browser extension that captures audio from your active browser tab and provides real-time transcription and translation captions overlaid on streaming media. The Extension connects to a backend server and third-party speech-to-text and translation APIs to deliver its functionality.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum digital age of consent in your jurisdiction) to use Typingo. By using the Extension, you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. Permitted Use
You may use Typingo solely for personal, non-commercial purposes to transcribe and translate media you are authorized to access. You agree to use the Extension in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
5. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Extension to transcribe, capture, or reproduce content in violation of copyright law or the terms of service of the platform you are accessing
- Capture or record audio from any tab without the knowledge or consent of participants who have a reasonable expectation of privacy
- Use the Extension to harass, monitor, or surveil any individual without their consent
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Extension or its backend infrastructure
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Extension or its backend
- Interfere with the operation of the Extension or the experience of other users
- Submit false, misleading, or abusive feedback or content through the Extension
6. User Accounts
Creating an account with Typingo is optional. If you choose to sign in with Google, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your session and agree to provide accurate information. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Third-Party Services
Typingo integrates with third-party services — including speech-to-text, translation, authentication, and database providers — to provide its features. Your use of the Extension is subject to those services' own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the actions, content, or privacy practices of third-party services.
8. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to the Extension, including its design, code, and branding, are owned by Hogun Kim. These Terms do not grant you any license to use our trademarks, logos, or trade dress.
You retain ownership of any feedback you submit, but by submitting it you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use that feedback to improve the Extension.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Accuracy of transcriptions or translations
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Compatibility with any specific website, browser version, or operating system
- Fitness for any particular purpose
Transcription and translation quality depends on audio clarity, language complexity, and third-party service performance. Results may contain errors.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hogun Kim shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Extension, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Extension shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) for the Extension in the twelve months preceding the claim.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hogun Kim from and against any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Extension in violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law or third-party right, or content you submit through the Extension.
12. Modifications to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Extension or any feature at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Your continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Hogun Kim resides, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
